Covid FAQ's

Yes! We reopened our doors on 29th March and, all being well, the next day they will be closed is Christmas day!

So that we can manage the number of visitors onsite, we are asking all customers to book online ahead of arriving.

You can book all of our activities, including disc golf and recreational skiing and snowboarding here.

Our cafe-bar is currently located at Mendip Lodge (just a few minutes walk from the activity centre, near the top of the ski slope).

Mendip Lodge is open 7 days a week from 8:30am - 9pm (10pm on Saturdays).

Seating is operated on a first-come, first-serve basis and we are unable to take bookings. Last food orders are one hour before closing time.

Hot drinks, Cold drinks and snacks are also available to buy from the activity centre reception, 7 days a week.

We have been certified as a Covid secure business. Our instructor led activity sessions are permitted to run for groups larger than 6 people as we will actively manage the group and ensure social distancing is maintained throughout the session.

All specialist equipment will be provided and appropriately sanitised before each session and between users.

Social distancing is expected with members not of your household and all current government advice must be followed whilst onsite with us.

We have hand sanitiser available for customer use around the site and on activity sessions and encourage customers to sanitise hands regularly.

General FAQ's

This ranges depending on the activity...

Tobogganing is available for ages 4+

Skiing is available for ages 5+

Snowboarding is for ages 8+ (but must also have at least a size 2 feet and be 1.2m tall)

Frisbee Golf does not have an age restriction and under 6's play for free

Our outdoor activity sessions can be run in two ways, with different minimum ages:

If you are booking individual spaces on an activity session, the minimum age is 8.

You are also able to book a session privately just for your group. If you book the session exclusively we can relax the age restriction to include children aged 6 or 7. At least one adult must take part and be included in the group if there is anyone taking part under the age of 8.

As an outdoor activity centre we go ahead whatever the weather! The only exception to this rule is lightning directly over the centre, which we monitor very closely. Make sure you bring a change of clothes if it's raining, wrap up warm if it's windy, and drink plenty of fluids if it's hot. Make an adventure of it!!!

All of our activity sites have plenty of parking onsite. Parking is free of charge.

We are very fortunate to be situated in such a stunning location set in the Mendip hills. Unfortunately, this does come with its limitations. We currently only have stair access to our slopes and cafe, and the paths leading to our onsite activities can be fairly muddy and uneven.

Pushchairs/wheelchairs/mobility scooters may struggle depending on what part of the centre they are trying to access. We are always happy to try and help where we can so please do give us a call to discuss your individual requirements.

You will receive a confirmation email from us once your booking has been made. Sometimes this email can end up in your junk folder, so please check there first if you can't find it.

If you can't find a confirmation email, your online booking may not have been fully completed - please check whether the session you were trying to book is still available online. If it is, please try to make the booking again. If it's not, please contact us so that we can check what's happened.

If you've searched through our list of FAQs to see and still can't find the answer, there are a few ways you can get in touch.

Firstly you could either:

Finally, if you would rather speak with one of our friendly team, you can arrange a phone call by clicking here.

We are currently operating our cafe out of Mendip Lodge rather than the Alpine Lounge. This is just a few minutes walk up the hill from the main centre.  It is open 7 days a week during the school Summer holidays from 8.30am until 9pm (10pm on Saturday).

We operate on a walk-in basis only and do not take reservations for tables or food.

Mendip Activity Centre, Mendip Lodge and Mendip Basecamp are all cashless.

We accept all major credit and debit cards (excluding American express).

Yes! We have a bunkhouse right on site that is available year round and, during the Summer months, we have 2 canvas villages onsite also.

Snowsport FAQ's

No. We cannot allow teaching on our slope by anyone other than our qualified, employed and insured instructors. We will ask your whole party to leave the slope if seen to be teaching someone who cannot ski or snowboard.

Not for lessons but if you are just using our slope for recreational skiing or snowboarding, you are welcome to bring your own kit. However, Mendip cannot accept responsibility for any damage caused by our slope. Equipment hire is always included in the cost so we would always recommend using our ski's and boards but you are welcome to bring your own boots, helmets and pads if you prefer. There is no discount available for bringing your equipment.

We have lessons on in the evenings, every weekend and throughout the school holidays at times to suit everyone. We put on as many lessons as we can. We are constantly reviewing where the demand is and will always try and flex our schedule to get certain levels in if required.

You have full control over booking your own lessons with our online booking system. You can view all of our availability by clicking 'SNOWSPORTS' in the grey menu bar. Feel free to have a scroll through our calendar before purchasing a snowsport course, we are sure there will be lessons at times that suit you, whatever your schedule!

Click here to view availability and book online.

Something comfy! You definitely don't need anything special and we strongly advise against salopettes and proper ski jackets! A pair of joggers or leggings are ideal as they give you plenty of movement (avoid jeans whenever possible) and loose layers that will keep you warm but that you can easily remove if you start getting warm. If it's raining, we'll still go ahead with lessons so a set of waterproofs is always a good idea.

As long as you are warm and comfortable, have your legs and arms covered, and you have a pair of gloves, you are good to go!

All of our activities, sessions and lessons do need to be booked in advance. Everything can be booked online, via our website.

Click here to view our snowsport selection and book online.

Click here to read more about our snowsport courses.

All of our snowsport lesson times include kit up and de-kit so you just need to arrive 5 - 10 minutes before your session time to check in and complete some paperwork.

It is really tricky to tell what level lesson would be suitable for you if you have previous experience as it will be different for everyone. We would recommend booking a private lesson so our instructors can coach and advise which level of group lesson is best for you.

Our group ski and snowboard lessons will only ever have a maximum of 8 people per instructor.

Private lessons can have up to 8 people (age 8+).

Minis group lessons will have a maximum of 4 people per instructor. Minis private lessons are for a maximum of 2 people (ages 5 - 8).

All slope users must wear a helmet whilst on the slope. We always include helmet hire at no additional charge. Gloves must be worn whilst on the slope, please bring these with you or they are available for purchase onsite.

Group lessons are a great way to learn and are the most cost-efficient way to learn, especially with our Learn to Ski and Learn to Snowboard courses.

If you decide group lessons aren't for you, we also offer private snowsport lessons. Click here for private ski lessons and click here for private snowboard lessons.

Gift Voucher FAQ's

All of our gift vouchers are valid for 18 months unless specifically mentioned.

Yes, we'll send you a link instantly to your ready to print, full colour, personalised gift voucher.

Recreational slope pass vouchers are for those who can already competently ski or snowboard. This article will walk you through using the voucher to book a session!

You can view all the recreational-level session options for skiing by clicking here, or for snowboarding by clicking here.

Your voucher will apply to one of the "2hr Morning/Lunchtime/Afternoon Recreational Ski" or "2hr Morning/Lunchtime/Afternoon Recreational Snowboard" sessions. This is what they will look like:

These sessions will vary in price between peak and off-peak slots, but your voucher can be used for either type.

Scroll through the available sessions and find a time and date that suits you. Click on the session for a pop-up box showing session details and FAQ's.

Select the total number of adult and/or child participants (under 18's will count as "children") and click "Add" to put the slots into your basket. Please note that adult and child slots will need to be added to your basket separately, but will all be booked in as one group.

You can then click on your basket at the top right of the page - look for this icon:

Then proceed to checkout.

If you already have an account with us you can sign in, or if not, create an account.

Once you are signed in, you will be directed to the review page of your booking, where you can enter your voucher codes (as shown in the red box below).

You'll need to enter the voucher code and security code into the boxes, and then click "Redeem". There will be a pop-up window confirming that the voucher has discounted the session amount.

Close the popup window. If you have more than one voucher and have added multiple slots to your basket, you can now repeat the process with the other codes.

Scroll down and continue to Checkout. You will be asked for some more information - complete the participant name and (if required) enter the age.

As you continue through the check out process, you will have a chance to read through our T&C's.

If you have additional items in your basket that are not covered by your vouchers, you will then be prompted for card details to pay for these.

If there is no value left to pay, your transaction will be complete! You'll receive a confirmation email from us which contains all the details of your booking. These often go into junk mail folders, so please check there if you can't find it.

You can also view your booking by logging into your account.

Your voucher will have a voucher code and a security code, which can be used to book online.

Just go through the booking process as usual, and during Checkout you will reach a 'Review' page where you can redeem your voucher/s. Enter the voucher code and security code. If your voucher is for multiple people, you can select how many uses you would like to redeem from it at this point.

You should then continue through the Checkout process and complete your booking. Once this has been completed, you'll receive a booking confirmation email. These often go into junk mail folders, so please check there if you don't see it!

Visit for more info about your voucher and links to book.

All of our activity vouchers can be used against any other activity of the same or less length of time (excluding snowsports).

If you want to try an activity your voucher isn't valid for you can redeem the original value of the voucher towards anything else.

You can use the digital copy of your voucher without needing to print it out - you just need your unique codes to book.

If you have a Learn to Ski or Learn to Snowboard course voucher, this article will walk you through using it to book your first lesson and begin your journey to becoming a skier or snowboarder!

This article will use the example of skiing but the process is exactly the same for snowboarding, just look for Try Snowboarding sessions instead of Try Skiing.

Your voucher should look something like this:

You are going to use the codes outlined in the red box to book your lessons.

To begin with, you are only going to book your Try Skiing lesson. To do this, click here to view available ski sessions.

Click here to view available snowboard sessions.

Scroll through the lessons available and select the "Try Skiing" lesson on a time and date that suits you.

Add the session to your basket and proceed to checkout.

If you already have an account with us, sign in and if not create an account.

Once you are signed in, you will be directed to the review page of your booking.

As you are booking a Try Skiing lesson, you will need the corresponding voucher code.

Enter your unique codes into the boxes and select 1 from the number of uses drop down menu.

Once you click Apply Voucher, the system will deduct the value off of your basket.

Close the popup window. If you have more than one course voucher and have added multiple spaces to your basket, you can now repeat the process with the other codes.

Once you are finished adding voucher codes, click Complete.

To complete you booking, you will be asked to add the participant name and, if required, enter the age.

If you have additional items in your basket that are not covered by your vouchers, you will then be prompted for card details to pay for these.

If there is no value left to pay, your transaction will be complete. You'll receive a confirmation email from us which has all the details of your booking. (Our confirmation emails can sometimes go into junk/spam folders).

You can also view your booking by logging into your account.

Once you have completed your Try Skiing lesson, you can book your 1 star ski lesson by following the same process and using your 1 star voucher and security codes.

Please do not book lessons until you have been signed off by an instructor as ready to progress to a later star level.

If you cannot, or do not want to, use your gift voucher for the activity it was originally intended for, you can use it against any of our activities.

This can only be done for the value that the voucher was purchased for, so if it was a voucher purchased during a promotional offer, you will get the amount that was paid off an activity session.

To use your voucher, add the activity session to your basket. When you get to the review page of the booking, enter your voucher codes.

If the voucher is valid but is not for the activity that is in your basket, you will receive a warning message asking you if you wish to proceed and telling you how much the voucher will discount off your basket.

If you click "Redeem voucher", the value will come off your basket total.

If you do not wish to use your voucher value, just click anywhere outside the box, or go back a step.

Please Note: Vouchers can only be used once, so if your basket total is less than the amount paid for a voucher, you will lose any remaining credit. If your voucher included 'chips and a drink', the amount paid for this upgrade will be used against your basket total in lieu of the chips and drink element.

If you have a physical or digital copy of your voucher, it should state which activity it's aimed at being used for. It will look like this:

The activity this voucher is aimed at is highlighted in the red box.

If you don't have a physical copy of your voucher but you know the voucher code and security code, you can enter the codes (shown in the blue box) into our website's voucher validation page, which will confirm the activity your voucher was purchased for, and the expiry date!

If you'd prefer to do a different activity than the type listed on the voucher, that's no problem!

For example, the voucher above would not cover a snowsport session, or a 2.5 hour activity session. If you wanted to book one of those types of sessions with this voucher instead, the voucher would need to be converted to monetary amount.

To do this, you would just need to add your preferred activity to your basket and continue to Checkout as usual. Once you reach the "Review" page, you can enter and apply your voucher codes (shown in the blue box above).

A pop-up message will then appear, asking you to confirm that you would like your voucher to be converted to a monetary amount and applied to the session you have chosen:

Once this has been confirmed, you'll need to pay any outstanding amount (if the voucher does not cover the full session cost for the new activity) and then complete the booking. Please note that vouchers converted to monetary value are worth what was originally paid for the voucher.

We have a couple of different types of frisbee golf vouchers.

If your voucher looks like this:

Add the number of children and adults you require to your basket and proceed to check out.

When you are ready, click "Book now" and proceed to check out.

After you have logged in, or created an account, you will get to a "Review" page of your booking. At this point, you want to input your unique voucher and security codes from your voucher.

Enter your unique voucher and security codes into the boxes and select the number of uses you wish to apply from the drop down menu.

Click "Apply Voucher"

The voucher will then discount the value of your basket, bringing it down to £0.

Click Complete to finalise your booking.

If your voucher looks like this:

or is for a half price frisbee golf session,

There is no need to book in advance, just turn up on the day and bring your voucher with you.

If you have the voucher and security codes for your voucher, enter them into our website to find the value, title and expiry of your voucher.

Click here for our voucher check website -

Some of our vouchers can be used for more than one person at a time, or for the same person across multiple activities. Such vouchers include family activity vouchers (for 4 or 5 people) and family disc golf vouchers (see separate article).
These vouchers essentially have multiple uses attached to them. They can be used by a group of people for 1 use, or by 1 person for multiple uses. The actual process of choosing sessions and entering the voucher codes is the same for all the voucher types mentioned above.

If you are stuck on how to use your voucher, please refer to the following example:

You will have a voucher that looks something like this and will have a unique voucher and security code in the bottom left hand corner.

With the family activity vouchers, they are only valid for the 1.5 hour 'Try' activity sessions. So select your desired activity and date from the selection menu.

Once you have chosen your activity and date, you will be presented with a list of sessions that will either have 'xx spaces available' or 'exclusively available (££)'. To use your voucher, you will need to select individual spaces.

Once you have found your session, select the number of individual participants you are booking for and click 'add' to add them to your basket.

Once you have clicked add, you will get a notification informing you of the minimum age for participants and the maximum number of participants per session. You can then add the spaces to your cart. Your cart will then appear at the side of the screen where you can either close it and add more or continue to the checkout.

After the sessions have been added to the basket, you will be asked to either sign in or create an account and will then be taken to the review page. On this page you will need to enter your unique voucher code and security code into the designated boxes. You will also need to select the number of uses that you want to apply. So if you are booking for 4 people, select 4 uses.

Once redeemed, a pop up will show that the voucher has been used and the total discount will appear at the bottom of the screen.

Scroll all the way to the bottom of the screen to continue the checkout process. On the next page you will be asked for the names and ages (if under 18) of the participants.

After entering the information and clicking continue, you will then be presented with our terms and conditions. Read to the bottom where you will then need to click 'agree' to fully confirm your booking.

When you have read through and agreed to the terms and conditions, the booking is then confirmed and you will given your booking reference number and will also be sent your confirmation email. Keep an eye on your junk folder as they do often end up there.

All of our vouchers are valid for 18 months from date of purchase.

Any vouchers that were purchased in 2019 or in Jan - March 2020, have automatically been extended for an additional 18 months so you will not miss out due to the lockdown restrictions. You do not need to do anything to receive this extension.

You can check the status and new expiry date of your voucher by entering your codes here -

If you have a half price voucher for Frisbee Golf, there is no need to book in advance. Just visit our centre when you would like to play and our friendly check in team will be able to take payment and get you out onto the course. Make sure you bring your voucher with you to receive your half price rate!

Our course is open 7 days a week. The course takes approximately 2 hours to play in full and you do have to complete your round and return to the centre before it closes.

Disc hire is included in the green fee however we do take a £5 deposit per disc which is fully refundable on return of the disc.

We have recently renamed our Try Bushcraft sessions to Survival Skills. These are still the same session that is an introduction to bushcraft and survival skills.

Try Bushcraft vouchers are valid on all Survival Skills sessions. You can view the times and dates of these sessions here -

If your voucher is from activity superstore, you will not be able to book your session automatically online.

Please use our online calendar to find a date and time you would like to attend the activity that your voucher is for.

Once you have found this session, send us an email with your voucher codes, name and the time and date of the session you would like to attend. If you would like to book for any additional people to attend, you can do this directly with us.

We will get back in touch as soon as possible to confirm your activity. Please note, our availability is live on our website so we cannot guarantee that your chosen session will remain available. Your session will not be confirmed until you have received a confirmation email.

Your activity date must take place before the expiry date of your activity superstore voucher expires.

If you have a Frisbee Golf/Disc Golf voucher that does not contain any codes, or is for a half price session, this cannot be used to book online.

This is not a problem, just turn up at the centre and our team will check you in and get you onto the disc golf course as soon as possible. Please make sure you bring the physical voucher with you.

Activities FAQ's

Yes, you may book an exclusive instructor-led activity session as a Birthday Party. Social distancing must be maintained throughout the session, even if participants are in the same school bubble.

The maximum number of participants varies between activities.

Unfortunately, due to Covid restrictions, we are not currently able to offer party food packages or use of our party room.

With many of our activities, you are able to either book spaces on an activity session or have the session exclusively for your group.

If you book spaces, there will be a maximum of either 8, 10 or 12 people per session, depending on the activity. The minimum age for spaces is 8.

If you choose to book a session for a Private group, you can bring up to 8, 10 or 12 people to take part, dependent on the activity. The minimum age for exclusive sessions is 6. The option of a private group is only available if no spaces have yet sold on a given session.

As an outdoor activity centre, we go ahead whatever the weather! The only exception to this rule is lightning directly overhead, which we monitor very closely and rarely stops play for more than a few minutes. Make sure you bring a change of clothes if it's raining, wrap up warm if it's windy, and drink plenty of fluids if it's hot. Make an adventure of it!!!

Yes! We are now able to accept gift vouchers again. You may use your voucher on any instructor led activity that your voucher is valid for. If your voucher was due to expire after 22nd March 2020, we have automatically extended it by 18 months so your codes will still work for an online booking.

All vouchers can be used for the value paid for them against any of our activities.

We will need a completed copy of our medical declaration. Where possible please print it out and bring it with you. We will have copies available on site.

Well behaved dogs are welcome to join you onsite however unfortunately, they can't join you on any of our activity sessions other than frisbee golf.

If you are bringing a dog with you, one of your party will have to not take part in the activity session to stay with the dog or it will have to be left in a vehicle.

Yes! If you find an activity on a time and date that suits you, you are able to book for an exclusive group which means it will just be your group with the instructor. If you do this, once you have checked out, pop a note in the notes box to let us know its a stag or hen do and we'll make sure we're prepared.

If your group is larger than our group sizes or if you are looking for a more bespoke package, specific activity or to add multiple activities or a catering option, check out our Stag and Hen webpage here -

We can certainly arrange this activity for you. If you are booking for an educational/school group, please take a look at our dedicated webpage:

Frisbee Golf FAQ's

It's pretty easy and a lot like regular golf!

1. Go to the first 'Teeing' off post
2. Take it in turns to throw your first shot towards the basket
3. The player whose frisbee landed farthest from the hole throws next
4. Once everyone's frisbee is in the basket, write down your scores
5. Find your next 'Tee Post' to play the next hole
6. Add up your scores - remember the winner is the player with the lowest score!

Our team will also run through how to play before you set off.

If you have a Frisbee Golf voucher or an annual membership, there is no need to book in advance. Just come along on the day you want to play and our team will get you checked in and onto the course.

Please make sure you bring your voucher or pass with you.

Once you have made a booking for your chosen day, you are welcome to arrive anytime within the booked period. We suggest allowing approximately 1.5 - 2 hours to play the full 18 hole course. All players must have returned to the centre by closing time.

If multiple groups arrive at the same time, we will stagger the time that you set off to allow for social distancing on the course

If you've caught the Frisbee Golf Bug, we've got some great deals on both individual and family memberships which allow you to play our course as many times as you like for a whole year. Frisbee Golf memberships are not currently available to buy online but ask our team whilst you are onsite and we can get you sorted straight away with an annual membership.

To ensure our site is COVID secure, we are currently taking bookings for Frisbee Golf. Simply book your group for the day and time that you would like to visit.

Frisbee Golf is a self led activity so you can take the course at your own pace. We have 18 holes and it is a couple of km's walk so long it takes will depend on your group size and ability. On average, the course takes around 90 minutes to play in full.

If you are looking to book a session for an organised group (e.g. Scouts, Guides etc), please get in touch with our dedicated booking team via

Our Frisbee Golf is set around our woodland area and we go ahead in all weathers. We suggest wearing clothing suitable for being outside and walking around the woods. Sturdy footwear is highly recommended.

The Yeti Hunt is included in every round of Frisbee Golf, especially for kids! Our friendly Yeti has laid 10 furry yeti eggs around our woodland. Whilst playing Frisbee Golf, keep an eye out for these eggs and the letter they each contain. We will give you a special form to write the letters on as you go and when you get back, if you can correctly unscramble the code word, we will give you a chocolate prize!

Yes! Friendly dogs are more than welcome onsite and to join you on the frisbee golf course.

Please keep all dogs on a lead and clean up after them.

Ticks are present in the Mendip Hills. Ticks can be found in long grass, woodland, open country, public parks and gardens. Help prevent tick bites by sticking to paths, avoiding brushing against the vegetation, wearing light clothing so ticks are easier to spot and brush off, and using insect repellent.

Check your clothes and your body regularly for ticks when you're outdoors and when you get home.  Ticks can transmit bacteria that can cause diseases such as Lyme disease. Symptoms of Lyme disease can include flu-like symptoms and a distinctive circular rash.

Tobogganers must wear full length sleeves, full length trousers, covered footwear (no flip flops or crocs) and a pair of full fingered gloves whilst on the slope.

There is a light sprinkler system on the slope so you could get a little damp even if its not raining.

We will go ahead in all weather conditions so dress for the weather and consider layers in case you get too hot.

Please aim to arrive at least 10 minutes before your booked time.

Your time on the slope (30 minutes or 1 hour, dependent on booking type) will begin at your booked time.

If you arrive late, we will try to get you onto the toboggan slope as soon as possible however we will have to complete a safety brief and you may have to wait for a member of staff to become free. Unfortunately, we will not be able to carry your time into the next slot so please arrive in plenty of time to avoid disappointment.

Tobogganing is available in 3 different session types:

Individual toboggan spaces are available for ages 4 - 12.

Hour long, exclusive slope bookings is for ages 4 - 12.

30 minute, exclusive half slope sessions are for everyone aged 4+.

All tobogganers must be at least 4 years old for all session types.

By popular demand, we have kept the option for 12's to join in with tobogganing. Due to safety reasons, this is only available with exclusive, 30 minute, half slope bookings.

You can use your Toboggan voucher against individual toboggan spaces on standard tobogganing sessions. All vouchers that were valid as of the first lockdown in March 2020, have been extended for 18 months past their original 18 month expiry date.

If your voucher is for Tobogganing, chips and a drink, please double check the cafe opening times as it is currently operating on reduced hours. If the cafe is not available when you visit for your toboggan session, you will be issued with a voucher that can be redeemed on a future visit for chips and a drink.

If you would rather use toboggan vouchers towards an exclusive session or a different activity, you can use the value of your voucher towards any activity. Simply enter your voucher codes during checkout and your basket total will be discounted by the amount originally paid for your voucher(s).

Toboggan vouchers are not valid on Twilight Tobogganing.

Tobogganing goes ahead, whatever the weather! It can be even more fun in the rain.

There is a covered area for spectators at the top of the slope. The slope itself is not covered and we have sprinklers for when the slope is too dry, so rain just means that everyone slides faster and has more fun!

We always recommend dressing for the weather and bringing waterproofs or a change of clothes if it's particularly wet on the day of your tobogganing session.

We now offer tobogganing in 3 different ways:

Individual Spaces

- 30 minute slots

- 16 spaces per slot

- Ages 4 - 12 only

- Prices from £3pp per 30 minutes

Exclusive Half Slope- 30 minute slots

- Ages 4+, no upper age limit!
- Prices from £32 per 30 minutes
Exclusive Full Slope- 1 hour slots
