Something comfy! You definitely don't need anything special and we strongly advise against salopettes and proper ski jackets! A pair of joggers or leggings are ideal as they give you plenty of movement (avoid jeans whenever possible) and loose layers that will keep you warm but that you can easily remove if you start getting warm. If it's raining, we'll still go ahead with lessons so a set of waterproofs is always a good idea.

As long as you are warm and comfortable, have your legs and arms covered, and you have a pair of gloves, you are good to go!

Once you have chosen between learning to ski or snowboard, purchase your chosen course voucher. 

You will receive an email with 7 sets of Voucher and Security codes - these are your passes to each lesson on the course. You can use them to book the corresponding lesson online.

We recommend starting out by booking the Try Skiing or Try Snowboarding followed by the 1 Star lesson. After these lessons, we strongly recommend booking your lessons as you go. 

Our easy online booking system means that you have full control over when you choose to have lessons and can make a plan that suits you. Lessons are available across evenings, weekends and daytimes, all year round. Click here to view availability and book online. 

When it comes to your first lesson, try and arrive 10 minutes before the start time. There is a medical declaration that we will need you to complete. Kitting up and de-kitting is included in the lesson time. This will get quicker with each lesson. 

Once you have completed your Try lesson and 1 Star, continue to book your Star lessons. It is sometimes necessary to have a second attempt at a lesson to nail all of the skills required to move onto the next level. This is normal, everyone learns at different speeds. Your course voucher includes one set of codes for a Free Repeat. If you need further repeat lessons, your course voucher entitles you to a 50% discount on these. The first 50% discount code is included in your voucher codes (for vouchers purchased after November 2024). If your voucher was purchased earlier, or you need further repeats, please email the team on hello@mendip.co.uk and they will be able to send across a unique code for you. 

Once you have completed your 4 star lesson, you have completed the course and you are able to ski independently. We call this 'recreational standard'.

There are a host of FREE extras to take advantage of including:

• -a FREE 2 hour slope pass
• -a FREE Ski With An Instructor session- informal, drop in sessions designed as a recreational ski with an expert instructor also skiing the slope with you
• -a FREE Mendip Ski Club session; takes place Thursday evenings. Adults and Junior sessions available

Once you have completed the course, you will receive an email with voucher codes allowing you to book onto the course extras. If you don't receive this email within a few days, get in touch!

Outdoor Activities can be booked as Individual Spaces or as Exclusive Groups, with some age limits. 

SNOWSPORTS

-Tobogganing: Ages 4-12. If booked as an exclusive Half Slope Group Session, ages 4+ with no upper age limit.
-Skiing Lessons: Ages 8+
-Snowboarding Lessons: Ages 8+ height minimum 1.2m Shoe Size min adult size 2
-Minis Private Ski Lessons: Ages 5-8.
-Recreational Skiing/Snowboarding: Ages 5+ and must be recreational standard.

TARGT SPORTS

-Archery, Axe Throwing, Air Rifle: Age 8+. If booked as an exclusive group session ages 6+. At least one adult must be participating.
-ArcheryActive, Nerf Battles: Age 6+. If under 8s are taking part, at least one adult must be participating.
-Frisbee Golf: Any age. Under 6s play free. Under 16s must be accompanied by an adult.

LAND ACTIVITIES

-Orienteering: Any age. Under 6s free. Under 16s must be accompanied by an adult.
-Bushcraft & Survival Skills:  Age 8+. If booked as an exclusive group session ages 6+. If under 8s are taking part, at least one adult must be participating. 

ROCK SPORTS

-Rock Climbing, Climbing Tower, Caving, Try Caving, Abseiling (20m/65ft): Age 8+. If booked as an exclusive group session ages 6+. If under 8s are taking part, at least one adult must be participating.

-Abseiling (50m/150ft): Ages 10+

WATER SPORTS

-Assault Course, Kayaking, Paddle Boarding, Raft Building Canoeing: Age 8+. If booked as an exclusive group session ages 6+. If under 8s are taking part, at least one adult must be participating. 

Gift Vouchers are valid for 18 months.

Annual Passes are valid for 13 months (meaning they make a great Christmas gift!)

Yes, in addition to a free instant personalised digital copy of your voucher, we offer an optional printed & posted service at £3.50 per voucher.

Vouchers will be posted the week commencing the 4th December, allowing for plenty of time for them to arrive before Christmas. Please note, vouchers can only be sent to one address per order. If you require vouchers posted to different addresses, please place a new order for each address. 

Adventure vouchers are available to purchase year-round. There are a limited number of available at the sale price.

You are welcome to buy as many of each voucher as you like.
