What is the Introduction to Coastal Paddleboarding Course?

This course is designed for paddleboarders looking to build on existing flat water skills and begin exploring the coast safely by SUP. You will learn how to paddle in a coastal environment, gain confidence in rougher water and develop a clear understanding of journey planning on the sea.

Who can take part in the Introduction to Coastal Paddleboarding Course?

This course is suitable for paddleboarders who are already confident paddling on flat water. You should be comfortable performing a controlled capsize and self rescue before attending.

How does the Introduction to Coastal Paddleboarding Course work?

Making the most of the stunning South West coastline, our experienced and qualified coaches will guide you through a practical coastal journey. Throughout the day you will build on your existing SUP skills while learning how to assess conditions, plan routes and paddle safely in a marine environment.

The day includes:
  • Developing SUP handling skills for coastal conditions
  • Planning and preparing coastal SUP journeys
  • Understanding weather, wind and tides
  • Managing shuttling and trip logistics
  • Choosing appropriate clothing and equipment
  • Coastal safety and rescue fundamentals

Where does the Coastal Paddleboarding Course take place?

This course takes place at Broadsands Beach in South Devon. This sheltered coastal location offers calm water and ideal conditions for an introduction to Paddleboarding on the sea.
