Paddlesport Instructor

A 2-day combined Training and Assessment Paddle UK course which enables you to run fun sessions for beginner paddlers in stable craft such as Kayaks, Canoes, and Stand Up Paddle Boards.

  • Where does the course take place?

    This will take place at a watersports venue close to Mendip Activity Centre in Churchill, such as Cheddar Reservoir or Clevedon Marine Lake. The exact venue will be confirmed upon booking. Please note, no transport is provided.

    Are there any pre-requirements?

    This course is for those aged 16+ who have completed the Paddlesport Safety and Rescue course. There is no formal prerequisite skills award, but you may find the Paddle Discover and Paddle Explore Awards useful. Candidates must also hold Full Membership of Paddle UK (formerly British Canoeing).

    What's included in the Paddlesport Instructor course?
    As part of the course you will learn:
  • Kitting up a group and getting afloat
  • Activities and games to support learning
  • How to use mini journeys to promote exploration of the environment
  • Keeping your group safe

  • Assessment is included within the two days of the course. This qualification is recognised by most outdoor activity centres and enables you to deliver paddlesport sessions to beginners.
  • You will be sent further joining instructions upon booking onto this course. Please read these carefully and get in touch if you have any questions or concerns.
  • Always check the weather forecast and prepare to dress accordingly.
  • We will provide centre-specific equipment. If you have your own, feel free to bring it along.
