Paddlesport Leader Training

A 2-day Paddle UK Training course that enables you to lead fun, safe, and enjoyable trips on sheltered water in a range of craft such as Kayaks, Canoes, and Stand Up Paddle Boards.

  • Where does the course take place?

    This course will occur at an appropriate venue in South West England, such as the River Exe or River Avon. The exact venue will be confirmed upon booking. Please note, no transport is provided.

    Are there any pre-requirements?

    This course is for those aged 16+. There is no formal prerequisite award, but you may find the following courses useful: Paddle Discover, Paddle Explore, and Paddlesport Safety and Rescue . You must have Full Membership of Paddle UK (formerly British Canoeing), a 1-day First Aid course, and Safeguarding Training (both dated within the last three years).

    What's included in the Paddlesport Leader Training?
    As part of the course you will develop:
  • Personal paddling skills in a number of craft such as Kayaks, Canoes, and Paddle Boards
  • Rescue skills
  • Leadership skills for leading a mixed fleet of craft
  • A clear understanding of what is required in the assessment
