This two day Paddlesport Touring Leader Training course develops the skills needed to lead safe and enjoyable paddling trips on moderate inland water!
What is the Paddlesport Touring Leader Training course?
This Paddle UK leadership training course prepares paddlers to lead individuals and small groups on moderate inland water in a variety of craft including Kayaks, Canoes and Stand Up Paddle Boards.The training focuses on building personal paddling ability, rescue skills and leadership techniques so you can confidently plan and manage paddling journeys in a moderate water environment.

Who can take part in the Paddlesport Touring Leader Training course?
This course is suitable for paddlers aged 16+ with previous paddling experience who want to develop leadership skills on inland water.There is no formal prerequisite award, however this qualification sits above the Paddlesport Leader.

Participants must hold Full Membership of Paddle UK (formerly British Canoeing), a valid 2-day First Aid certificate and Safeguarding Training dated within the last three years.
How does the Paddlesport Touring Leader Training course work?
Across two days you will develop the personal paddling and leadership skills required to safely lead groups on moderate inland water. Training combines practical sessions on the water with discussions around planning, safety and decision making.The course includes:
- Developing personal paddling skills
- Rescue skills for inland water environments
- Safety awareness and risk management
- Leadership and group management skills
- Theory and planning for paddling journeys
Where does the Paddlesport Touring Leader Training course take place?
Training takes place at suitable venues in South West England depending on conditions.Possible locations include the River Exe or River Avon. Exact venues will be confirmed after booking.
Transport is not included.
