What is the Paddlesport Leader Training course?
Paddlesport Leader Training is a Paddle UK qualification designed for paddlers who want to lead fun, safe and enjoyable trips on sheltered water. During the course you will develop the personal paddling, rescue and leadership skills needed to lead mixed groups using craft such as Kayaks, Canoes and Stand Up Paddle Boards.Who can take part in the Paddlesport Leader Training course?
This course is suitable for anyone aged 16+ who is looking to develop leadership skills in paddlesports. There is no formal prerequisite award, however you may find the following courses useful before attending: You must also hold Full Membership of Paddle UK (formerly British Canoeing).How does the Paddlesport Leader Training course work?
Over two days you will develop the knowledge and practical skills needed to confidently lead paddling groups on sheltered water. Training takes place through practical sessions, coaching and real leadership scenarios across a range of craft.The course includes:
- Developing personal paddling skills in Kayaks, Canoes and Paddle Boards
- Rescue skills and safety management
- Leadership skills for managing a mixed fleet of craft
- A clear understanding of the requirements for the final assessment
Where does the Paddlesport Leader Training course take place?
This course takes place at a suitable paddling venue in South West England, such as the River Exe or River Avon. The exact venue will be confirmed upon booking.Please note that transport is not provided.
