A one-day Paddle UK course designed to teach essential safety and rescue skills for paddlesports.

What is the Paddlesport Safety and Rescue Course?

The Paddle UK Paddlesport Safety and Rescue course teaches the key skills and safety principles needed to keep yourself and others safe whilst paddling.

Throughout the day you will develop the tools and confidence to recognise common issues on the water and learn practical rescue techniques to deal with them effectively.

This course is suitable for paddlers of all experience levels and is often taken by those looking to progress into coaching or instructing.

Where does the course take place?

This course takes place at a watersports venue near Mendip Activity Centre in Somerset, likely either our Hewish watersports site or Clevedon Marine Lake.

The exact venue will be confirmed after booking. Please note that transport is not included.

Are there any pre-requirements?

There are no formal pre-requisites for this course.

What is included in the course?

The course covers six key modules:
  • Clothing and equipment
  • Safety frameworks including safety principles and rescue protocols
  • Contact and towing rescues
  • Self-rescue techniques
  • Deep water rescues including multiple rescues, unconscious rescues and entrapped rescues
  • Reflection and development

  • This is an outdoor course so please check the weather forecast and dress appropriately.
  • Centre equipment will be provided. If you have your own equipment you are welcome to bring it.
  • There is no formal assessment as part of this course.
  • This course is a pre-requisite for further qualifications such as the Paddlesport Instructor award.
