Recreational Slope Pass: Ski or Board

SUMMER SALE - Weekday 2 hour Slope Passes just £12 then only £1 per extra 30 minutes! All Summer long!

Book a slope pass at a time to suit you and practise on our slope. Book in advance to ensure our slope will be open and ready for use!

    Who is this for?

This session is for anyone who is able to already ski or snowboard- we call this recreational standard. You must be able to stop on demand, control your speed, steer and avoid other objects and slope users and use the button drag lift.

    How does it work?

Simply choose whether you want to ski or snowboard, how many people, how long you want on the slopes and the date you want to visit. All equipment is included in the cost (ski's/snowboard, boots and helmet). All users will need to be wearing a pair of gloves, full length sleeves and full length trousers. Please note that we do not supply ski poles. If you are experienced in using poles, you are welcome to bring your own.

    How much is it?

The price varies depending on how long your session is and the season. Use the calendar and person selector to see how much your chosen date and duration is. Winter pricing starts from £15 for 2 hours. Skiing on a Monday is just £12 for 4 hours- our best deal of the week!

    Progression

If you can already ski but are looking to improve your confidence and gain more skills, check out our Ski With An Instructor, or Board With An Instructor sessions. You can also book a Private Lesson or have a go at Mendip Ski Club, our weekly informal and fun ski club for adults and juniors.

    FAQ's

No. We cannot allow teaching on our slope by anyone other than our qualified, employed and insured instructors. We will ask your whole party to leave the slope if seen to be teaching someone who cannot ski or snowboard.

Not for lessons but if you are just using our slope for recreational skiing or snowboarding, you are welcome to bring your own kit. However, Mendip cannot accept responsibility for any damage caused by our slope. Equipment hire is always included in the cost so we would always recommend using our ski's and boards but you are welcome to bring your own boots, helmets and pads if you prefer. There is no discount available for bringing your equipment.

For skiers there are no age restrictions on slope passes, as long as everyone meets the requirements.

For snowboarders, there are no age restrictions but you must be at least 1.2m tall and have at least an adult size 2 shoe, or bring your own kit.

To use a Slope Pass you will have to sign to say you are able to stop on demand, control your speed, steer and avoid other objects and users and use a button drag lift. If it has been a while since you last skied or boarded, we recommend starting on our smaller lift and taking things steady until you get your legs back. If you are deemed to be unsafe to yourself, or other slope users, we may have to ask you to leave the slope.

We have added recreational skiing and snowboarding to our online booking system so you can secure your slot before arriving.

    You can book online here.

Unfortunately, we do not hire ski poles as part of our recreational ski pass and do not have poles available for hire.

If you are experienced in using ski poles and can use them safely, you are welcome to bring your own or we do have them for sale in our reception.

If you are booking individual spaces on an activity session, the minimum age for most activities is 8.

As an outdoor activity centre, we go ahead whatever the weather! The only exception to this rule is lightning directly overhead, which we monitor very closely and rarely stops play for more than a few minutes.

If you think you'll need additional support during your experience with us, it’s important that you let us know prior to booking an activity.  All our activities have varying degrees of physical and mental challenge to them and some require a small level of fitness. All our instructors hold first aid qualifications but are not always qualified to assess the capacity of participants who may require additional support

Our main centre is lift-accessible. The paths leading to our onsite activities can be fairly muddy and uneven. Pushchairs/wheelchairs/mobility scooters may struggle depending on what part of the site they are trying to access.

We'd strongly recommend reading our full accessibility statement here: www.mendip.co.uk/accessibility

You will receive a confirmation email from us once your booking has been made. Sometimes this email can end up in your junk folder, so please check there first if you can't find it.

If you can't find a confirmation email, your online booking may not have been fully completed - please check whether the session you were trying to book is still available online. If it is, please try to make the booking again. If it's not, please contact us so that we can check what's happened.

    Tobogganing

Tobogganing is a very popular activity and, especially during peak times, we have very little flexibility in being able to push your start time back. Where possible, we will get you onto the toboggan slope as soon as possible once you arrive. We will try to be as accommodating as possible and if there is availability later in the day, we will move your session to a later start time however please be aware that this is not always possible.

    Frisbee golf or recreational snowsports

We are likely to be able to change your start time at arrival as long as it is within our opening hours and on the same day.

    Private session
We will start whenever you arrive but we are unlikely to be able to overrun.

    Individual spaces on a session

We will do our best to fit you into the session at a point that does not disrupt it too much for other participants. If you are more than 10 minutes late, we're sorry but it is very unlikely we will be able to fit you into the session due to missing the safety and equipment briefing and kit up.

Let us know you cannot make your session, or request an amendment:

    Please email hello@mendip.co.uk

Our cancellation and amendment terms can be viewed here: https://www.mendip.co.uk/termsandconditions

Yes, the Alpine Lounge is open the majority of the time we have activities scheduled!

Check out our website https://www.alpinelounge.co.uk/ for the current opening times and to view the menu.

We do no accept bookings for the cafe, it is walk in only. There is plenty of space so you will not struggle to find somewhere to sit.

Well behaved dogs are welcome to join you onsite including in our cafe, the Alpine Lounge.

However, unfortunately, they can't join you on any of our activity sessions other than frisbee golf. If you are bringing a dog with you, one of your party will have to not take part in the activity session to stay with the dog.
