This two day Sheltered Water Canoe/Kayak Coach Training course develops the skills needed to coach Canoeing and Kayaking on sheltered water!
What is the Sheltered Water Canoe/Kayak Coach Training course?
This Paddle UK coach training course prepares you to coach Canoeing and/or Kayaking in a sheltered water environment. The training focuses on developing your ability to plan and deliver safe, progressive and enjoyable coaching sessions while supporting learners as they develop their paddling skills.Who can take part in the Sheltered Water Canoe/Kayak Coach Training course?
This discipline-specific course is suitable for anyone aged 16+ who is interested in coaching Canoeing or Kayaking on sheltered water. You must have completed the Core Coach Training before attending.We also recommend completing the Paddle Explore award so that you are comfortable paddling independently on sheltered water.
Candidates must also hold Full Membership of Paddle UK (formerly British Canoeing).
How does the Sheltered Water Canoe/Kayak Coach Training course work?
During the course you will explore how to coach discipline-specific skills and how to adapt sessions for different learners and environments. The focus is on understanding how to coach effectively and safely while helping paddlers develop both technical and tactical skills.The course includes:
- Planning and delivering safe, progressive coaching sessions
- Developing coaching techniques for Canoe and Kayak skills
- Understanding how to support typical learners on sheltered water
- Exploring coaching approaches for the sheltered water environment
Where does the Sheltered Water Canoe/Kayak Coach Training course take place?
Training takes place on suitable bodies of water in South West England. The exact venue will be confirmed upon booking.Please note that transport is not included.
