What is the White Water Kayak Leader Training course?
This Paddle UK leadership training course prepares paddlers to safely lead individuals and small groups kayaking on moderate white water rivers.The course focuses on developing both personal paddling ability and leadership skills so that you can confidently manage groups in moving water environments.
Who can take part in the White Water Kayak Leader Training course?
This course is suitable for paddlers aged 16+ who already have experience paddling on white water.You must have attended a Paddle UK White Water Safety course and hold Full Membership of Paddle UK (formerly British Canoeing).
How does the White Water Kayak Leader Training course work?
Across two days on the river you will develop the skills required to safely lead groups in a moderate white water environment. The course focuses on applying paddling techniques and decision making in real river situations.The course includes:
- Developing personal paddling skills
- White water rescue skills
- Safety awareness and risk management
- Leadership and group management skills
- Theory and decision making on the river
Where does the White Water Kayak Leader Training course take place?
Training takes place on suitable rivers in South West England, depending on conditions.Exact venues will be confirmed after booking.
