A one-day Paddle UK personal skills course designed for paddlers to improve their Kayaking, Canoeing, or Paddle Boarding.

    • Where does the course take place?

    This course will take place at Mendip Activity Centre’s private watersports venue in North Somerset, Hewish.

    Are there any pre-requirements?

    Whilst there are no formal pre-requisites to this course, candidates might find it useful to first attend a Mendip Try Kayaking, Try Canoeing, or Try Paddle Boarding session.

    What's included in the Paddle Discover Award?
    As part of the course, you will learn:
  • Independent decision-making on different bodies of water (moving river, canal, estuary, harbour)
  • Safety and weather aspects
  • Preparing for self-guided adventures
  • Equipment you will need for a variety of paddle trips
  • Further developing your canoe, kayak, or SUP paddling and rescue skills

  • We will provide centre-specific equipment. If you have your own, feel free to bring it along.
