Nature Trail
Explore ancient woodland, discover hidden wildlife and enjoy a self-guided adventure through the Mendip Hills with our Nature Trail.
What is Mendip's Nature Trail?
Set off on a self-guided adventure through the beautiful Mendip Hills and explore Mendip Activity Centre's stunning woodland at your own pace. Our Nature Trail is a relaxed outdoor activity designed for curious explorers of all ages, with ancient woodland, open meadow, wildlife clues and a little Mendip magic waiting along the way.
There are no strict time limits, so you can take your time, enjoy the views and make the experience your own. Whether you are visiting as a family, heading out with friends, walking the dog or simply looking for a peaceful moment in nature, the trail is a lovely way to discover more of our special site.
How does it work?
When you arrive, each person taking part receives their own trail map to keep. The route winds through woodland and meadow, with brass rubbing stations and QR code checkpoints along the way. These help reveal the secrets of the landscape, from rare wildflowers and local wildlife to centuries-old trees and the history of the Mendip Hills.
The Nature Trail is self-led, so you can follow the route in your own time. Most people spend around 1 hour completing the trail, but you are welcome to enjoy it at a pace that suits you.
Where does it take place?
The Nature Trail takes place at Mendip Activity Centre, our beautiful 250-acre woodland site in the Mendip Hills National Landscape.
Who can take part?
The Nature Trail is suitable for children and adults of all ages. Under 16's must be accompanied by an adult aged 18 or over.
